We are very pleased to announce that the 2012 season of the US Chess League, the most exciting chess event in the USA, will have high-quality live coverage on Chess.com/TV each week -- starting Wednesday September 5th 2012. Said frequent Chess.com/TV host David Pruess "I'm actually going to try to do a good job for the first time." Said his arch-nemesis, Danny Rensch: "I'm going to show David how to use math to explain chess competitions."
Throughout the season, viewers will be treated to a higher level of production quality, and to the commentary of newly-signed host, BrotherJosh.
As a youngster, Josh Sampson was an active tournament player, winning multiple National Scholastic Championships with the Shelby School chess team -- competing alongside his brother Danny Rensch. Now like many of us, work and family keep him from tournaments, but they couldn't keep him from jumping at the opportunity to share his love of the USCL with other fans. Josh will be joined by alternating co-hosts:
IMs Daniel Rensch and David Pruess will compete in rigorous matches of "Thumb Wars", "Rock-Paper-Scissors", and "RoShamBo" each week to determine who gets to co-host alongside BrotherJosh. Danny and David have each played in the USCL up through the 2011 season.
This year, they are sitting out in order to maintain the appearance of objectivity, since they will be working with the league as part of the new USCL-Chess.com partnership. But they are both obviously huge fans and supporters of the league, who will be happy to spend their evenings watching the USCL with the rest of its fan base.
Chess.com/TV will be broadcasting all Wednesday matches from September 5 through November. The start times vary a bit by week, but are usually about 7 pm eastern / 4 pm pacific. The shows will be open to all members (including free members), and will be posted in the TV schedule.
