The Saint Louis Chess Club and Scolastic Centre is set to play host to the 2009 US Chess Championships. The ambitious and modern centre only opened in July 2008 and has impressed as a well-equipped venue for the national event.

It was a bad start for the 'Experience' team in the NH Chess Tournament in Amsterdam. Despite all the oldies having White in the first round, they only managed 2 draws and lost the other 3 games.

The final round of the 2008 Staunton Memorial was pretty much unexciting as Michael Adams drew with his opponent Loek Van Wely in just 15 moves to take his second straight Staunton Memorial by half a point.
