Anand Leads Karpov 1.5-0.5

Vishy Anand took the lead against Anatoly Karpov in the first games of their rapid match, in Corsica. 

Anand won with the white pieces in game one, but Karpov held a draw with his turn with the white pieces in game two.

The rate of play is 15 minutes plus a 3 second increment.  The match concludes in Ajaccio on 2 November.

i'm also suggesting that karpov should not have resigned.  in a rapid match, you should never say die.  after 46...Kg8 47.Nxg5 black can play 47...Ne7 followed by Nc6 then winning the b4 pawn.   Karpov can win the b4 pawn and then its game on, esp if he is up on anand on the clock.

I feel Karpov is playing safe,but he needs to play solid aggressive lines if he need to win.He cannot match Anand in open attacking games.Any way one have to admit that Anand is in good form.
