Hi Frank!
Sorry, I am taking so long to respond to your latest post here, but I juat noticed it! :-(
Anyway, as to your questions . . .
There is a private discussion area where only team members can go to discuss the moves. Players have to be careful to discuss moves only in that area, not in the public discussion area where people from the other team can see your discussions about the game that are meant only for your team members!
But yes, there are private team discussion areas in the vote chess games.
Also, once you have voted, you can see the tally for your team. Unfortunately, you cannot see it until after you voted. In many vote chess games where I have played before, team members who have already voted will often copy and paste the current tally into the team discussion area, so people who have not voted can see how the tally is going. But again, that tally info is available to a team member only after that person has voted, or if one of the team members who has already voted pastes the info so other team members who have not voted can see it. Otherwise, people who haven't voted can't see the tally.
But I guess, the main point for me is that I think it is very important for team members to discusss the moves, and try to reach some sort of agreement or concensus on what move to make, in order to develop an organized strategy. In vote chess games where people just go there, don't read the discussion or strategy of people who are discussing what to do, just look at the game and then just vote on their own; they often mess up the game for the people who are trying to develop a strategy.
The groups that I have seen win the most vote chess games are those that are organized about this stuff; have a team captain for each game, who tries to direct the discussion, and who then decides what move to make and lets everybody on the team know when it is time to vote and what move to make.
Also, it is better to have at least 2 days per move; perferably 3, I suppose. If it is shorter than that, then it becomes difficult for people in different parts of the globe to have time to have a give and take discussion on what to do, and still have time to reach a agreed decision, and then have time to vote. AND, there are NO VACATIONS in vote chess games; if nobody votes in the time allowed to make a move, the game is lost; or else if somebody is not available for that period of time, the game goes on without that person.
Thanks,
George
Hm, I think chess.com needs to a private discussion area if its not already included in vote chess for this purpose, but then each players will have their own ideas as well. Hmm does it show what the current votes percentage is per move? I guess we should make some suggestions to Chess.com for these type of options! But then it could used to see how many players agree with each others with out knowing what we each decided to do!
All in all its be fun an some what frustrating to some of us when things don' not go right! So lets have some fun regardless and lets do some serious study of the game before we vote!
Mahalo!
im in too..
I am in Frank.
Hope we can all talk over and agree on what move to make before voting. In other groups I have played vote chess in the past, people sometimes just vote without saying anything, and then the game gets all messed up.
Thanks.
