Submitted by FVC123 on Fri, 01/18/2008 at 6:05am.

I just woke up this morning and turned on ESPN News and saw that Bobby Fischer died at the age of 64. I was shocked when i read that and i still can't believe it now.

truly hes is the best player, kasparov even at the height of his career cannot equalize bobby's popularity...why? he was not even got a contract to play with a $5 Million, bobby even do many years not played a single tournament yet he was offered such amount just to see him play once again!!!

The greatest chessplayer ever! Considering the odds he has to face to become World Champion this guy is really legendary. As a person he is brutally honest and he is not a sell out. He did not allow himself to be used by anyone. My interest in chess came back when I heard of his death. I started playing chess in 1972 at the age of 12 during the height of chess fever initiated by Bobby. May you rest in peace!

why would anyone think bobby was anything but a chess player is beyond me.

He was the greatest ever and no one can change that. He voiced his opinion

on some matters and people and politics took it out of context. The man only wanted to play the game that he loved and everyone had to make more of it

than they should had
