Since Bobby Fischer's death in January 2008, there has been an unpleasant and increasingly unseemly battle to gain control of his estate, estimated at $2 million.

An Icelandic Court ruled today that Miyoko Watai was legally Fischer's widow and should inherit his estate, estimated at $2 million.

Bobby's nephews had claimed that the marriage was not legitimate, but the Icelandic court ruled clearly against them and also ordered that they pay Watai's legal costs.

However, the lawyer acting on behalf of the nephews has already stated that there will be an appeal, so the desperately sad saga may not be over just yet.

YATTA! Perhaps, on rare occasions, good does win out in the end. I'm very, very happy for Watai-san.
