Chess.com Sponsors Award

I don't think it was even mentioned around these parts, but our own Chess.com sponsored a $1000 prize for Best Game of the just concluded 2010 US Chess Championship.

The award went to Yury Shulman for his victory over Hikaru Nakamura in the Quad finals. The judges were Greg Shahade, WIM Alisa Melekhina, and Chess.com's David Pruess.

The award was presented at the closing ceremonies. For photos of the event, and documentary proof that Khachiyan, Krush, Finegold, Christiansen, and Benjamin (at least) can dance, click here:

It was also announced at the event that the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis will host next year's US Chess Championship.

Right now I'm looking forward to the US Women's Chess Championship in July. All the faithful gather again in St. Louis one month hence.

Not making a big deal of a nice gesture makes the gesture nicer.

I was wondering about the PR too...maybe chess.com didn't want to make a big deal out of it for some reason...I just discovered the existence of the Best Game prize by accident.
