Asian League 2011 Wrap Up
Happy New Year 2012 Everyone.
The Asian League 2011 was the second year for the competition on this site. I would not say that it was run perfectly, but with all those existing challenges within two years and the disappearance of its super admin in the middle of the year, the overall handling of such a huge event is considered a successful job.
First and foremost I would like to thank all the directors, who tried their best to manage the Asian League 2011 as well and fairly as possible: Mr. Vusal (AzoXan) and Mr. Flozza (castorfj), who managed Division 1 and 2 respectively. Mr. Azhar (Adkhuhro), who helped me to invite new teams for the Asian League 2012. Many thanks to Mr. BackLight and Mr. Khorshed Alam (mkaalam) who guided me with their valuable advices whenever needed and finally Mr. Rex (Fantasto) and Mr. Riga (rigamagician), who helped me a lot in compiling the 2012 Rules.
Secondly I would like to congratulate the Teams Iran, Australia and Indonesia which achieved the top three places in the year past. Congratulations also to the teams Kazakhstan and Malaysia which have been promoted to the Premier Division as a result of their excellent performances in Division One.
Unfortunately the teams Azerbaijan and Bangladesh are not playing in Asian League 2012. Team Philippines United also resigned, and team Philippines Finest Chess Club will represent The Philippines in their place.
Congratulations to the teams Singapore, Syria, Viet Nam, Lebanon and Mongolia which are promoted to the Division One. With so many new teams participating in Division Two in 2012, teams Nepal and China are being given another chance to stay in Division One instead of being moved to the lower division. So the only downward movement in 2012 is for team Pakistan, which also has preferred to move to Division One.
Now a big welcome to all the new teams participating in Asian League 2012: being teams North Korea, Hong Kong, Turkmenistan, Maldives, Afghanistan and Myanmar United.
And last but not least, on behalf of the directors of the Asian League, I wish the best of luck and a joyful and fair tournament for all the respective participant teams in 2012.
Kind Regards
Vahid
