PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VOTE ON ANY TEAM MATCH!

I just took a glance at the team vote match with The North American Chess Team. It's now our move. I am deeply disturbed by our 3rd move. 3...f6 invites White to attack our weakened king side, and White's 4th move should be no surprise, which was 4. Bd3. Now White, with very little concern for losing pawns, is eyeballing our exposed king which will soon either be mated, or lose castling rights. Now we MUST deal with the threat of White playing Qh5+! We will be lucky to survive 10-15 more moves. How did this happen?
If we, as a group, want to win this team match or any team match, then we, as a group, must develop a system for determining our moves BEFORE we vote. I have two recommendations. First, let's put our delicate egos to the side. NO ONE votes on any move immediately, regardless of your individual rating. Before anyone votes, that voter should discuss his or her plans/ideas (not just moves) with at least two other group members, preferably members who are rated 1800+. There has to be a way to create a forum or something to discuss our plans in any given game without the knowledge of the opposing team. Second, all group member should follow basic opening fundamentals with military discipline. If you do not know these principles, that's OK, but for the sake of the group please don't be afraid to ask your teammates to explain them in a way that you can understand. Creativity in the opening is fine, but anything that endangers our king's position should and will be challenged.
