ACP Women Cup 2012 Tbilisi.jpgNana Dzagnidze from Georgia took first place at the ACP Women Chess Cup in Tiblisi, beating Pia Cramling in a tie-break playoff after both finished on a score of 8/11 in the rapid round-robin event.

It was an exciting climax to this strong event which featured 3 former women's world champions: Maia Chiburdanidze, Antoaneta Stefanova and Alexandra Kosteniuk.

Nana Dzagnidze took home the first prize of USD10,000 from the USD40,000 prize fund.  The main sponsor was SOCAR Energy Georgia.

The lowest ranked competitor, Zeinab Mamedjarova avoided a complete whitewash by winning her game in the final round. Moral: never give up!

The time control was 20 minutes with a 5 second increment per move.

Pia is great. She always seeked improving instead of going for women titles. And she's very competitive almost being 50.
