Submitted by FM FM_Eric_Schiller on Mon, 03/02/2009 at 1:49pm.

I have written up the HHCF event from the perspective of one of my strudents (and chess.com member). It is at http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/3/1/175050/5056/366/703416. (because I wanted to post at a site that isn't just chess) There will be lots of You Tube coverage, Just search HHCF. Here is a sample.

Actually, if you google Hip-Hop Chess Federation or go to hiphochessfederation.org you'll see there has been lots of coverage.

Thanks for the follow up, it seems like a great event from all I've seen. I do hope they can bring the event to Chicago in the future. For all it's negative publicity, some rightfully gained some not, Hip-Hop has been a wonderful foundation on which to encourage children to aspire to greater heights. It's events like this and the work of Russell Simmons which utilize the positive and beneficial side of this culture to expand young minds. There should be more news coverage about these events and less about rap artists being shot in clubs or involved in altercations.

Not this time, he is training for a major martial arts competition. But he'll be back, as will Emory.

I know that in 07 and 08 Josh Waitzkin attended these events, does anyone know if he was at this one?
