European Team Chess Championships

Submitted by SonofPearl on Mon, 10/26/2009 at 1:49pm.

If you want to play through lots of recent high quality chess games, look no further than the The European Team Chess Championships website.

The 2009 championships are taking place in Novi Sad in Serbia, and feature an Open and a Women's section.

The Russian team have the top average rating in the Open section, but face stiff competition from Azerbaijan, Armenia and well over 30 other teams.

Many of the top players are representing their countries, although Magnus Carlsen was a last minute withdrawal from the Norwegian team on the advice of Garry Kasparov, in order to prepare for the powerful upcoming Tal Memorial in Moscow.
