Fortnight Speed Vote League

Submitted by Billium248 on Mon, 07/06/2009 at 9:28pm.

Hello Animal Lovers,

We are now playing in the Fortnight Speed Vote League.  That means that once per fortnight (every 2 weeks), we will be playing a game of Vote Chess at the ridiculously fast speed of 10-minutes/turn.

To anyone who has not played Vote Chess at Blitz Speed before, it is an incredibly intense and very enjoyable experience.  Each team only has 20 minutes total to discuss each move, so it's very important not only to post which move you like best, but what you're thinking for the next few moves so that we can follow that line or make modifications.  Team Work has never been more important.

Last week, the average game was finished in less than 7 hours (the longest was just over 12 hours).  So it's very important to schedule the start time when the most players are online.  Nobody is required to stay online for the whole game of course, but many people do.  We have 256 members, so we should have all time zones covered regardless of when we start it, but I want to know who is interested in playing, and when you would most like the game to take place.

Generally, I prefer Saturday afternoons (I am in the Eastern US Time Zone), but I'm pretty flexible.  What are your preferences?

Our first game will be against Chess Empire, and needs to be played anytime between now and Sunday, July 19.  Half the games in Week 1 timed out, and these guys timed out on move 14, so we might get lucky.  But they may have learned their lesson too, so be prepared for anything.

If you'd like to read all the rules, see the current standings, or just follow along with all the action, it's all posted at the Fortnight Speed Vote League Headquarters.  You don't need to be a member to access the information, but everyone is welcome to join.

I will be coordinating the game with their admin soon, so I really need to know when you would most like to play.

Please contact me with your preferences as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Billium

We just won the game against Chess Empire! The game started at 4AM, my  time New Zealand, and I came in at 6AM , so for me Sunday-morning.                           I could not see the begining, shame, but must be good too.                                   4 AM is a bit too early , but I enjoyed it still!

Thanks Alejandro,

It looks like the game will be starting at 1pm Central Time.  Last week there were 4 games that lasted over 11 hours, so it could very easily still be going when you come online.  At 11pm Central time we will be on move 30, unless someone times out or resigns before then.  At that point I'm sure someone will be needing a break, and be very happy to see you!!

Thanks guys!!  Is there anyone else that is going to play?  We've got 256 members.  There's always a dozen votes on each of the moves in the other games, but very little discussion.  I'm hoping that means that we'll have more than 2 people playing for us!!  At only 10-minutes per move, it's important to make a move every 20 minutes or you time out, so we need at least one person online at all times.  And it would really help if we could start discussing our moves rather than simply voting on them.
