West Ham had the far better stats including shots on goal and time of possession. Everton's Defense in the game was the 5 yellow cards you see above.
The Everton Defense consisted of Trip Him, Kick Him, Grab His Jersey, Shove Him Over and Hold. The David Moyes Stellar Defense idea is entirely in David Moyes' mind. Aside from the Everton faithful, all of England knows (and has said) that the Toffees would be using their brooms to sweep the Premier League basement if they did not have Tim Howard.
The good news is that Everton would not have gotten the three points had they not commited illegalities in collecting those Yellow Cards. It does show Everton has the will to win. After losing the second game to Benifica, Portugal in the Europa League, the Everton players seem more focused on the Premier League now. The Pied Piper of Glasgow has led them back to England. Everton has the will to win, but not the direction. In late November (the 21rst?) we will play Manchester United. Everton might pull of the upset, or get a drawn result if Manchester United is not up for the match, and do not take the Toffees seriously. According to the front office, the Everton team was to be getting a half dozen players back from injury this month. We will see who returns by game time, and if they are fit to play. The past two seasons Everton seems about the most injured team in the league.
"When it was 2-0 I felt we had shored it up with nearly a perfect away performance where you have got the goals, but did not play that well." Moyes
West Ham, however, was not at full strength for this match. "West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is awaiting news on Herita Ilunga and Carlton Cole ahead of Sunday's game with Everton. Both players were forced off with suspected hamstring injuries during Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa." Neither player was on the roster, and neither played in the game.
