Group Guidlines

Submitted by JMack207 on Sun, 11/09/2008 at 1:33pm.

I hesitate to add guidlines, but after being part of several groups that began well, only to wander away from their intended goals, I thought a few guidelines might be a good idea.  Let's stay true to helping each other improve our game.  All posts should be on that topic, whether answering or asking a chess related question.  Let us all be cordial to each other, no telling someone they made a stupid move even if it was a stupid move, instead explain why that was a poor choice and offer several that would have been better and why.  Only post finished games, not games in progress.  It isn't fair to your opponent if you post a game in progress seeking help.  I'll look at all posted games and add comments.  That is how I improve my game.  I encourage everyone to challenge other members of the group with the winner posting the game here so we can all discuss the outcome.  Doing so will help all of us improve.  Any othe suggestions on the do's and don't's of this group are welcomed.

In time, I'd like our membership to be among the most improved players on this site....Jake

I agree that an occasional "off-topic" post isn't a bad thing if they don't become the norm instead of the exception. I'd love to be able to lure a 2000+ player here, but wouldn't be awesome if we can produce such a player from this group, a player who at the time of joining us is under 1400?  That just became my new group goal....Jake

I am with you to help any way I can help.   The guidelines are cool, as a lot of other groups tend to be a little  "off topic"  at times, which has its place also, but it is a good idea to insist on these as it insures that those here will be serious, and therefore the end result will be one of learning if all intend to adhere to the principals.  It would be nice to get one of these >2000 players/coaches to assist for the benefit of all.  Good luck .
