Dear Group Member,

1. Introduction: I'm a 167 ECF (approx 1980 FIDE) OTB player of more than 30 years standing. I first played postal chess back in '79 but the game has never been the same for me since the advent of the PC.

I see the aim of this group quite simply: To play more centaur chess.

2. Ideas: I want to encourage all members to feel free to throw ideas out, even the unformed ones. I'll get the ball rolling, with some of mine:

i) I think that it might be fun to run a tournament. I've set one up here:

At the moment the tournament is only for the Advanced Chess group but I might throw it open to the public, depending on interest here.

ii) If there was enough interest I would be willing to set up a rating system for the group. I was thinking that everyone starts on 3000 and by applying a FIDE-type calculation, I would be able to publish a quarterly rating list.

3. Changes:

ii) Anyone else who wants to contribute, send me a note and I'll make you admin, if you wish.
