After 4 straight draws, Vassily Ivanchuck (cartoon pictured!) won his last round game against Ivan Cheparinov to take the M-Tel Masters tournament by 1.5 points. Topalov tried his best to beat Radjabov, but the game ended in a perpetual check. Aronian-Xiangzhi also ended in a draw by three-fold repetition.

What a brilliant tournament by Chucky! He won every game in the first half of the trnt., went undefeated & won by 1.5 points! He got in the lead early & coasted to victory. What happened to Aronian? He tied for first in the Corus trnt. in Jan. with Carlsen & won or tied for first in both sections of the Amber trnt. in March. This surprises me a lot that he didn't win a single game!

I'm thinking Chucky has won a lot of new fans after this tournament. Not only for his great chess but also for his endearing oddball personality!

What a horror show it had been.  The last axe was...I thought he'd been being merciful.

Hey, benws, you did my job for me! Wink  I added the cartoon just for fun. Smile  All the players received framed cartoon portraits of themselves at the end of the tournament.

Congratulations to Ivanchuk on a great performance in the tournament.  Aronian will be very dissapointed by his showing, but I'm sure he'll back to win another day.

I hope everyone enjoyed the coverage!
