Kaidanov-Polgar: Blitzoff!

Submitted by MikeRoesell on Thu, 02/25/2010 at 6:17pm.

Well I guess you know the outcome of the fourth and final regulation game. GM Judit Polgar won to even the score between the players at 2 as well as skunking Black for the match. Kaidanov was playing the Scheveningen Sicilian and as in the previous days, Black let the game slip with mistakes. In the end of the game Black with 11:21 on his clock, and a two pawn deficit, resigned.

This victory for Polgar means that tomorrow, February 26, there will be a blitzoff starting at 2:00 pm EST(US). Well as you can see from the games that have been played there hasn't been much success from the Black pieces.  We'll have to see tomorrow whether or not Black's Sicilian can win.  Remember that the games will be webcast here. The best of luck to both players tomorrow

demetrios18: "kaidonov lost , i cant believe a women wins"

What a complete sexist moron you are, demetrios18. The Moron part was obvious from the very beginning but I didn't know you were a Sexist jerk too. Any more classy credentials in your pocket you want to share?

Judit is just a circus freakshow now, and Kaidonov is just some guy that talks like Yakov Smirnoff.  Why anyone cares about these two clowns is beyond me, but hey enjoy :)

Chubee, I totally agree.  I learned chess from two great players, Bobby Fischer and Laslo Polgar(Judit's Father). Just to say I learned from their books so don't ask me what Bobby was like. Laslo in his 5000 puzzle book has a section on Polgar Sisters games and combinations with many many of all three (I think) sisters games.  Judit's games were from her prime and were an incredible resource to learn from. I am having trouble finding the blitz game so I will get the next article up as soon as possible.

These guys are average. The entire game was an eating fest w/o any attack plans from either side.

Djma: How come it's not 25. ...Rxb7

26.Nxd6

Then 26...Bxd6, 27.Re8+ leads to mate. Other moves drop the e7 bish with a strong attack

Does anyone know why was the Sicilian chosen for this match? Did the GMs choose it?

I think the conclusion is that when you tell a GM what your opening is going to be weeks in advance you are likely to get your ass kicked.

A Sicilian themed match and black always loses. Hmm... is there any conclusion which can be drawn from this?

martyp, white would have played 32. b4 I think, and black would have been down a knight

After 31 ... Qa3, 32. b4 prevents the mate.

At 31 ... Qa3 and mate next move (Qxa2#) for black.  What am I missing?

I've enjoyed tracing these games.  The chess is great...I have many questions on some moves but am very much enjoying the action.
