Kamsky Wins Baku Open

US Grandmaster Gata Kamsky won the 2010 Baku Open which took place from 23 - 31 August.

The competition was a nine round Swiss with over 150 players taking part, and Kamsky took first place, and a prize of $10,000 with a score of 7.5/9 thanks to a last round victory against GM Boris Savchenko.

Kamsky did well to recover from a loss to Rauf Mamedov in round six.  All Kamsky's games are given below.

Yes boys and girls, only one point back in a field of 150 - an untitled joe-blow.  Ahead of a LOT of IM/GM level players.  Kinda makes you feel like there is hope.

Some people also thought Topalov would crush Anand during the World Chess Championship match because of a better rating.Embarassed

It's obvious that Kamsky will win this event because HE was the highest rated player here, for sure lot of fans are anticipating that too. And the only man to beat him was a 2660 rated player, a Grandmaster named Rau Mamedov. Nice games by Kamsky though and a grateful congratulations for him.

i dont want to spoil your love for Kamsky but i believe that any 2600+ player could have pulled off those results
