Kim-Kardashian.jpgThe model, actress and fashion designer Kim Kardashian caused a stir in chess circles yesterday when she tweeted, "I want to learn how to play chess. Wondering if Levon Aronian can teach me!"

The Armenian world #3 ranked player Lev Aronian is currently playing at the prestigious Tata Steel tournament in the Netherlands.  He re-tweeted Kim's plea but didn't respond.

Chess.com owner Erik Allebest was touched by Kim Kardashian's interest in the royal game and has offered to sponsor her chess tuition, recommending 21-year old US Grandmaster Sam Shankland as the ideal tutor!

So if you're reading this Kim, please tweet your interest to @chesscom and become part of the #1 online chess community!

Lions is right! It's the Wobble Chess Set!  Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!

<Anerom> There used to be a GM who used to practice for the world championships with an opponent who just chain-smoked, because he knew that his future adversary is a smoker. He practiced tolerance of the problem.

I suggest that you practice teaching chess to groups of 10 near-nude beauties at a time, just that you get over that problem of concentration.

@VirtualChessX ... Are you complaining that being a chess player will now get you laid up and down Hollywood Boulevard?

I just noticed the marble splashguards on the wall. Wow. The things that must go on in that room ...

What's the deal with that board? The squares aren't flat, they're scalloped!

" Judging from the photo she has a lot to learn. 1...Qd8-e5 is an iIllegal move."       Let's be fair. Maybe she's just setting up the pieces. But, wait a minute!?  What is that strange plant to the right of her in the photo? (I know, you're wondering why I'm looking at the plant) Is that a poppy plant?

Rosanne Barr still wants to learn how to sing The Star Spangled Banner, and Barbie still thinks "math is hard" ... but then again ... if it turns out she can beat Aronian ... and if her queen is allowed to jump, as in the photo? I bet she can.

Aronian can also teach her, but I doubt she can actually speak Armenian :/

Calling her a "model, actress, and fashion designer" is very generous.

Nice photo, Kim - and as K. Spraggett, I'm sure, wouldn't fail to mention - the board is even set up the right way!

(the bishop and knight aren't, though, and I do wonder how the queen got out)

First Levon will have to teach her the alphabet and numerals so that she can grasp the mystery behind board coordinates.

Having the Kardashians around is a lot of stigma for a small country like Armenia to bear.
