Hi everyone,

The draw for Cycle 1 (Open) has been made.

Small change to the format. The winner of each division gets promoted, the loser gets relegated - apart from Division 1A and 1B, where the winners play in the Final.

You may notice that there are 4 Division 3s, that's to realign the divisions. New counties start in Division 3. So, 4 counties will be promoted to Division 2, but only 2 will get relegated to Division 3.

Here are the groups:

Division 1A
Dorset
Yorkshire
Staffordshire
Norfolk

Division 1B
Lancashire
Gloucestershire
Surrey
Hertfordshire

Division 2A
Derbyshire
Shropshire
Durham
Herefordshire

Division 2B
Hampshire
Oxfordshire
Kent
Cheshire

Division 3A
Cambridgeshire
Leicestershire
Middlesex

Division 3B
Bedfordshire
Sussex
Essex

Division 3C
Buckinghamshire
Suffolk
Wiltshire

Division 3D
Devon
Worcestershire
Northamptonshire
Somerset

Here are the fixtures to be locked no later than February 4th (either county can challenge, it doesn't matter):

1A: Dorset v Yorkshire, Staffordshire v Norfolk
1B: Lancashire v Gloucestershire, Surrey v Hertfordshire
2A: Derbyshire v Shropshire, Durham v Herefordshire
2B: Hampshire v Oxfordshire, Kent v Cheshire
3A: Cambridgeshire v Leicestershire
3B: Bedfordshire v Sussex
3C: Buckinghamshire v Suffolk
3D: Devon v Worcestershire, Northamptonshire v Somerset

The usual reminder, paste links here. 1 concurrent game.

I challenged Sussex on behalf of Bedfordshire. As far as I can tell, I'm waiting for a reply...

dommo, we can usually predict matches that will struggle to get too many players. If they have few players in the group, an eye is kept on them. Often, we are their SA, so can tell. Most of the time, this sort of thing is pointed out to us.

right OK - I hope you don't mind then if I give them until the end of today to go and try and find extra players as they may not have been aware of this ... and we're too nice in Bucks to take advantage of rules like this if it can be helped :)

piersonal, minium of 5 boards. We set it at 1+ though, just so you can actually start the game. We'll manually apply default points. You got 3 players above? That means you'll start your game 4-0 up.

Out of curiosity, is there a minimum number of matches reqd like there is with the championship?

Timmy is right. 1 game per time. We have a whole year (well, 11 months) to play the games. :-)

You only need 3, according to the rules.

Apologies for the slight delay, I've been in Oxford and Leicester on Friday and Saturday. I had ~ zero time to compile this.
