Letting Go Is Hard To Do

Welsh Flag.jpgAfter a lot of soul searching I've admitted to myself that I simply don't have the time to take an active part in running Team Wales any more.

Between holding down a full-time job (in the "real" world) and writing part time for Chess.com I don't really have time to manage Team Wales properly and I feel that it's holding the group back.

I started this group 4 years ago almost to the day, and it's grown and changed a lot since then, and I think it's time for me to let go of the reigns and step down as super-admin.

The group has benefited enormously from its committed and enthusiastic members, and I'd like to thank everyone for their contributions, whether you joined years ago or just hopped aboard the Team Wales train recently.

I will step down soon as super-admin and I would like to recommend cymruambyth1 as the new Team Wales super-admin. Ian has been a great help to me as I've tried to look after the group, and has shown unerring good judgement in some difficult situations.

If anyone has any objections, or would like to put their own name forward then let me know.

I'll hope to stay on as a member of the group, as long as you'll have me Smile.

Many thanks,

Ryan

Seems to me that there is considerable enthusiasm 'in the other ranks' as it were.  Keep in step with the new General SUPER ADMIN and the team will stay on course to further the all round  friendship.

    Best wishes

Thanks Ian for your very kind words Embarassed

I would be happy be an admin so I can help whenever I am able to Smile

I would echo your call for more Team Wales admin volunteers. Our current admins do a really great job, but it's always nice to have more people contribute their time and ideas.

I've always thought that term 'admin' was unfortunate - it makes it sound boring Laughing. It's a lot nicer than that!

Beyond that, I think it's worth mentioning that all members can contribute to the group if they want to even if they don't want to be an admin! Smile

Well my fellow Taffia, I am humbled.

When I joined the team, not so long ago, I quickly realized what a great job SonofPearl (Ryan) was doing. This was and always will be, his baby. In his quiet way, Ryan has created and nutured this team by encouragement and strong direction to those of us that enjoy the comaraderie and spirit of being a part of a team. His ability to delegate has seen the membership almost double in the past year...quite amazing!!

Ryan, I would encourage you to remain as an admin for the team - I think I speak for everyone when I say that your mere presence is a positive influence, despite the knowledge that you are unavailable to assist on a regular basis. Please allow me to re-instate you as an admin???

So its a tough act to follow. The first comment I need to make and it is way overdue, is to congratulate Simon (linkumbink) on the incredible job he has been doing. Not just the amount of work, but the "jocularity" is quite something!! Thank you Simon. Ron and Jim are important admins for the team and much appreciated. Robert (irrawang) has had some family priorities, but we would love to see one of the best players in the team re-join us as an active participant - even if it is on an accasional basis...what do you say Robert?

I do concur with Jim though. It would be a great shot in the arm to have one or two more members join the group - how about it Andy? No official duties, just helping out when you can. Any other Valley boys that want to take up the challenge?

To wrap up, I want to thank you all for your support. My monitor is always to open you, so don't be shy!! Ian

OK, no objections or other suggestions have been forthcoming, so the deed is done!  The super-admin is dead, long live the super-admin! Tongue out

I agree, there is a lot of work involved but I think that you should be kicked out of the group for deserting usSmile

I think that cymruambyth1 would bethe perfect successor but I think that we need more admins to help him as I have also been busy lately and unable to do much he has been running the whole show on his own.

If anybody is interested in helping out then please let us know...
