GM Michael Adams, GM Loek Van Wely, and GM Melikset Khachiyan (along with the support of several other titled instructors) will be coming together for a rare opportunity at a scholastic camp in Los Angeles over August 12-16, 2011 meant for talented youth(s). Take a moment to watch the short informational video using the above link. It is rare to see so many top GMs in Los Angeles, CA to begin with, and even more so, to see them teaching at a camp. This camp will lead into the 1st Metropolitan International from August 17-21, 2011.

The event is organized by Metropolitan Chess, Inc, which was recently voted 2011 Chess Club of the Year by the United States Chess Federation Executive Board (USCF). NM Ankit Gupta, Chief Organizer of Metropolitan Chess, Inc, was voted 2011 Organizer of the Year by USCF.

Metropolitan Chess, Inc, through partnership and continued support of Chess.com and other organizations runs monthly International Master norm events.

Later in June, through collaboration with Chess.com, Metropolitan Chess, Inc. will be running its first series of online qualifiers on the Chess.com platform into its closed events. Follow-up stories will include more information about such.

Metropolitan Chess, Inc, can be reached at info@metrochessla.com

I'm very happy to see that you, Ankit, and Metropolitan Chess are getting well-deserved recognition from the USCF.

Your norm tournaments, especially, are putting Los Angeles on the US chess map.  With the CCSCSL and now Metropolitan Chess, the geography of the game has taken a decided shift to the west.

Congratulations to you and all involved !

    Amy
