Chess.com really is about 3 things: PLAY, LEARN, and SHARE. Today we added something special to LEARN -> Video Lessons! These new daily chess videos are created by some of the best players in the world - GMs, IMs, and FMs who will give you insights into every aspect of the game.

WATCH CHESS VIDEOS ONLINE

We have launched with 30 videos in the library and will be adding 5-6 new videos each week - that's hours and hours of video instruction!

Here are a few great videos you should check out:

GM GMMelik Meeting GM Khachiyan: Exchange Sacrifice by GM GMMelik
GM Khachiyan goes over a remarkable game of his. Half a point behind his Grandmaster opponent in the last round, and with the black pieces, he went all out to create a sharp positional struggle that would give him chances to win the tournament. The game is full of deep ideas, surprising moves, excellent technique, a wealth of valuable insights, and a particular focus on the Exchange Sacrifice, a familiar weapon to Khachiyan as a pupil of the Tigran Petrosian School.

IM Shankland Shankland Teaches the Najdorf: 6.Bc4 part 1 by IM Shankland
Sam Shankland's series on the Najdorf Sicilian starts with a look at responding to 6.Bc4, the move championed by great Najdorf expert Bobby Fischer. Sam explains a defensive system for black based on a quick Nbd7-c5, defending e6 and giving black the option of trading white's b3 Bishop.

We hope you will enjoy the videos as much as we do!

Okay just a suggestion, any way that we could have a way to mark videos that we have already viewed and then sort them out with a filter. That would be a great addition IMO

Agree with most of the other premies on the forum.

  • Gold and Silver should have less access than Paltinum.
  • Giold and Silver should have more access than free members.

IMHO

"Don't forget, 3 videos a day is a LOT. That's about an hour worth of material. And since there's 30 now, and 5 to 6 added per week.... Do the math. That's as good as unlimited access. If you would advocate one per week, or one per 2 weeks, yeah, I think you can try that one. 3 per day is too much though." - Lizard87

I agree. To me that would be the perfect compromise.

Thanks for those videos. It's a great idea.

But It would be greater if the premium members, as me, who pays 30$ a year could have a little advantage for their membership. Well, I understand that full access is for the diamond members but why not should we have a little more access compare to those who don't pay. It could be 3 videos a day for example. Anyway, chess.com is a great site. But please, don't forget your premium members!

Chess.com is the #1 chess improvement site in the world.

ICC and Playchess.com can't compete with the features of chess.com.

Fantastic!

"What about semi-unlimited access for gold and silver members?" -Akuni

I agree. I'm not a diamond member simply because I do not have nearly enough time to utilize all that would be available to me. Being able to watch a video every once in a while would be nice.

This looks truly exceptional. I know in the past you've worked with other chess organizations and sites (ChessMentor, youtube and ChessTactics server), have you considered working with chessvideos.tv?

What about semi-unlimited access for gold and silver members?

There are 4 or 5 totally free videos. Then everything else is limited to 2-4 minutes of demo time per video. Diamonds have full access.

I see from the side-note on the videos page that Diamond members get unlimited access to the videos. However, what is the border between the limited video access of less-than-diamond members and unlimited access? Meaning: where is the indicator that there are some videos that a free member can't watch and some that they can? I don't see a "free section" and a "Diamond section". Just curious. It seems that the current video library is available to all.

Just a thought: It would be great if these were available to put on my iPhone/iPod. I like the Chess.com podcast videos (I was watching one in bed a few mornings ago... Laughing) and these would be nicer if they were portable on my Apple gadgets.

Great job in adding even more features to the site! Keep up the good work! Laughing
