I live in Deltona, but am planning to drive to/from the tourney each day (about 35 miles; one way).  This is no big deal for me, as I drive that far to work each day, which is very near to where the event takes place.

I have a friend here; CLMS_Chess, from another group that we are in together (Central Florida Chess).  He's a coach from the club that's sponsoring this annual event, and has bugged me to go and play.  I told him I would, but am somewhat nervous about it, as I've never played in a tournament.  I don't have any openings memorized, and I tend to lose in the end-game.

He suggested that I join the U1200 class.  What do you think, Dan?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Also, if we are going to be there, perhaps we can swap cell #'s, so that we can actually meet at the tourney.  I think it would be cool.  Of course, send me a note on the side.

I work most weekends and, anyway, I don't play tournament chess much any more (I have played perhaps 5 or 6 rated tournaments since 2001).  I wish you good luck in your torunament.
