Rules for the English Football League on chess.com

Submitted by OpeningGambit on Sat, 05/16/2009 at 11:31am.

Just to clarify things, I have made this forum thread.  I hope it helps.

All teams must enter via the forum thread 'REGISTRATION'.

To be in the league, they must then enter their team in 'Confirmation', stating the five or more players that:

1. Are willing to play in every team match for their club in the league.

2. Are not in another 'football club' on chess.com.

3. Are willing to sign up for every team match for the English Football League on chess.com within 5 days at the very maximum.

Teams are politely asked to get 5 players signed up for each team match within 3 days.  You may not lock your team until the 3 days are over.  They do not have to, however, lock their team until 5 days are over.

If the group fails to get 5 players together in 5 days, then it will unfortunately forfeit the match.

If this opposing team fails to get 5 players in 5 days, them please send me the link of the Team Match (directly to me as a message please), stating that the opposing team has forfeited the match.

The matches will be 5-a-side.

The matches will have a time control of 3 days/move.

You will be responsible for creating the team matches.

Enjoy!

Is there anything I've missed out?

These issues will be clarified shortly.

The 'fixture list' will be created when we have a few more teams 'confirmed'.

Thanks,

I think this clarity on the time scale for registering players and starting the matches, will avoid confusion and hassle later. Quite simply everybody knows that they have to do it within 5 days, else lose the match.

I think to make it easy for admins to follow, we should have a fixture list; displaying the dates that the challenges are to be issued, and which team should issue them (to avoid the problem of neither or both issuing the challenges).

At what increments are we starting the new matches, for example if we have 6 teams, then we'll have 5 matches; will we start a new game each week/month?

Also, will we have a deadline for completing the matches? You can expect somebody causing a long delay and the opponent then moaning to you otherwiseLaughing
