Peter Svidler Wins Gibraltar Masters

Peter Svidler (pictured) has won the 7th Gibtelecom Masters, beating Vadim Milov in a tie-break decider.

Svidler defeated Harikrishna in the last round and Milov overcame Avrukh with the black pieces, to take the competition into rapid (10 mins plus 10 sec/move) tie-breaks.  Svidler, the top seed in the competition, was not to be denied and won 2-0 to take the title and £15,000 first prize.

Nana Dzagnidze was the top placed woman competitor and takes home £6,000.
