    So everyone has until Friday, March 26 to get the book. And we talked about one chapter per week for at least the first two chapters, and probably splitting up some of the later chapters, since they're much bigger.

    Are we going to read and discuss the chapter in the same week, or spend a week giving everyone a chance to read, then discuss afterward? And how are we defining a week? Friday through Friday? Personally, I'd rather have the weekend at the end of the week, so if I don't have time during the week to do much reading, I can catch up over the weekend. So I'd prefer Monday through Sunday as the week for each chapter.

    it took me an hour to read through the first chapter last night (really basic easy to understand stuff) and by the looks of it it will probably take 2 - 3 hours to get through chapter two. So I think it will be easy enough for anyone of any level to get through the first two chapters in a week - time permitting.

    yeah that makes sense. I was going to check out how long the long ones were earlier but forgot.

    so how many are going to take on this book? we no how many voted, but who else that didnt pick it is going to give it a go?

    Now that I think about it, maybe we should just shoot for 1 chapter per week for the first two chapters, since they're relatively short and relatively easy, then see how it's going before deciding how to divide the later ones. I know we'll need to start dividing them once we get into the 60+ page chapters, but the first couple are only around 30 pages, and the material's pretty easy (mating with queen and rook vs lone king, mating with lone queen vs lone king, etc).

    @Fromper

    I will adjust the due date, next week Friday seems good enough; that request seems fair enough.

    As for the number of chapters and number of pages, I will create a little survey to figure out how to divide the book. I need to take into account people's rating, willingness and readiness to actually read, and the page numbers.
    I don't actually have the book yet, so I can't really begin to start that yet.

    @mprhchess

    I have already taken into account your vote, don't think that you can sway it just by filling the ballots.

    he put down 1 vote for each book I listed as an idea. if were doing 1 official vote I go for endgame course, so then minus 1 from the rest

    how come there are 20 votes but only 17 members to the group? Surely we should get 1 vote each.

    yeah I agree with Fromper, I already have the book, but people who are going to be buying it from a place on the web such as half.com will for sure need longer than 3 days, one of them being a mailless sunday

    Given that some people may need to mail order the book if it's not available locally, maybe we should wait a week or so to start. I already have it, but I don't know about everyone else.

    Once we do start, what's the time table? I think we were talking about one week per chapter, but does that mean we all spend a week reading, then discuss it the following week, or are we going to be posting our thoughts as we read during the first week? Also, I'm assuming that once we get to the longer chapters, we'll want to split them up, since this book has some very long chapters starting around chapter 4, IIRC.
