hello all i've noticed that everyone had a lot of time to fiinish their games in these tournamnets and only a few did 2 pairlings in the world champinship one in in the bmv and none in the first ladder tournament

so here are the options for these tournaments

  • cancel these tournaments and move on and create one later
  • keep these tournaments and make an schelued date for you all to finish your games
  • get more of chess.com to help with this group which i think this group needs because it's a tournament group and it's special
  • just ignore the whole thing and move on

so there are the choices please use 1,2,3,and 4 please vote

I vote 3, but it seems chess.com spend most of its resources to solve the live chess problems now, it is a correct soluction, I have been invited to attend the new live chess testing, the new live chess will be released soon.

after this, the live chess tournament should be one of their top priority.

FICS has a nightly 5 0 that runs 5 rounds. Personally, I don't like sudden death time constraints.

  • Name: The Nightly 5 0 at 1900
  • Time: 5
  • Increment: 0
  • Style: Swiss System, 5 rounds
  • Variant: Chess

For the current tournaments, it looks like very few actually played. Just wipe them off the board.

Can I suggest that we hold a live 5 5 tournament and run it as a 4? round Swiss tournament.

This wouldn't take more than an hour and would start to generate activity in the group.

We could also do longer tournaments like a 60 0 on a Saturday morning or a weekday evening. I don't know what timezones are represented in what quantity but FICS and ICC seem to be able to accomplish these things.

The idea is that we all play the games at the same time so there's not a problem of scheduling that we've had in the past. Registration opens 35 minutes before the tournament starts and closes 5 minutes before the tournament starts. Then all matchups get posted on the tournament thread. The white player challenges the black player and away we go. Results get posted by both players. If there's a discrepency in the reports it can be resolved by looking at the archived game. The tournament director (TD) could follow the games in action as well.

The TD should have software to manage the tournament until chess.com builds tournament support into the site. Tournament Management software is available here. http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/softeng.htm#TL.
