The United States Chess Federation (USCF), in conjunction with the Marriott Indianapolis East Hotel, and the Orange Crush Chess Club, has announced the return of the U.S. Open to Indiana.

The 110th U.S. Open will be held August 1-9, 2009, at the Marriott Indianapolis East Hotel and Convention Center.

The 2009 U.S. Open will once again offer a guaranteed prize fund of $40,000.  The last U.S. Open (then known as the Western Open) held in Indiana was in South Bend in 1928.
