Vs England

Submitted by SA_Rookie on Tue, 06/16/2009 at 1:39pm.

Without being too negative, we will be better of canceling our match against England. The rating diffrences are just to big. We are outnumberd, thus we have a 1250 versus their 1600. Any thoughts?

Sorry, didn't see.. I am a admin, so feel free to ask or suggest anything. Futhermore, contact bullshark he is a super admin. Otherwise post a note at the group homepage.

And i agree SirKnight_RSA. I suggest that we make 3 groups in which we rechallenge them.

Stuff ratings!  If you bother about ratings, stop playing chess! Challenge them again, or challenge them in groups, say 2000+, 1600-2000, and below 1600.  I agree with busybeaaanca.  I want to kick some pommie english butt.  Thereafter some American english butt, and then some australian english butt.  Get the challenges going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, even grandmasters loses in chess games. If we lose against a stronger opposition, it only makes us better!! No point in playing weak opposition and trashing them, what will you learn from the game? will it make you stronger or weaker playing against a weak opposition?

I guess you guys are right. Make a post with your name if you want us to challenge them. Or just another "stronger" team.

I agree with forrie., it's sad that we withdrew, I think it reflects badly on the team.

And PistolPete, if you play a higher rated player, the only one who can look like a fool is him, if he doesn't win....

I've had wins against 2100, 2002, 1980, 1960 and a draw against a 2200 on this site. None of them liked it... Foot in mouth

must we always withdraw if we "dont stand a chance". Then why do we take the risk to even play team matches if we dont want to loose ever? if you play chess you will always loose some games/matches. I feel that players that dont want to play against higher rated players dont need to register. In the posts below it is evident that some players wanted to play. Perhaps rating ranges is a good idea, however some players like to play higher rated players.

I don't think we should back down now, that seems a little chicken.

But in future we should perhaps set up the matches in rating groups.

SA_Rookie makes a good point. I'm never one to back away from a chalenge. But to have nearly every player play someone 200 rating point above him/her, that's a bit too much I think. I know, I'm like 200 points underated. But either way, the match will be very tight. There is no use we enter if we're just gonna look like fools. Lets own pommie ass on the cricket pitch, rather than the chess board
