for the reasons stated by davidt722, i think e6 is the best defense from the QG.

defending the pawn with a move like e6 still alows black to develop a bit more with tempo, not wasting time or material bieng chased around the board. it also strengthens its dark bishop by creating an open diagonal.
i agree with defending the pawn instead of taking as well, almaster. the question is with what piece you defend it, in my opinion.

I think the black should defend the pon rather than taking it because then the black will lose the center and that is bad. Right?
