Belgian Team Excelsior Mouscron claim Everton have invited Maxime Lestienne for a two-day trial at Goodison Park.
"The 17-year-old has caught the eye this season with a series of exciting displays in Mouscron's midfield." Manchester City, along with the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht, have previously been mooted as suitors but it is Everton who have made the first move. "There are an incredible amount of clubs interested in this guy. I understand Maxime won't leave Mouscron soon."
It has been rumoured Mouscron will consider his sale due to financial difficulties at the club, but caretaker manager Hans Galje has warned Toffees counterpart David Moyes to get back in the queue for the player.
Galje told Belgian channel Sporza: "I know Lestienne has been asked to go and visit Everton for a couple of days, but they can have seat in the waiting room.
Dutchman Galje claims Everton have asked permission for Lestienne to come over to England to take a look at the club's facilities. "The invitation of Everton to show him their stadium is not that strange.
The invitation of Everton to show him the stadium is not that strange? Who does he think he's kidding? We just want to have him stroll around the stadium, meet the owners' wives and go out for a few pints after. Just so he can see if English lager is up to his standard?
