nimzowitsch,était un trés grand stratège, il suffit de lire "mon système" ou le jeu de position prend une part importante, maintenant  tout dépend de celui qui l'utilise et le but rechercher. Apprendre une ouverture et une chose en connaitre la finalité en est une autre !  le but n'est-il pas pour les noirs de s'emparer de d5 ?

I would not call this defence 'common', with only 3,700 games in the database.

Not necessarily...it is a very transpositional opening, as well as allowing for unique opening arrangements.  Maybe Nimzowitsch didn't want to commit the e-pawn so early, but even after 2. Nf3 he can easily play 2...e5 and get back into traditional king pawn lines.

It takes a lot of control because white can exert a lot of pressure in the start of the game, but I've been able to use with a lot of success
