GM Igor Smirnov has two nice videos on this opening and two other nice videos on it's counterpart 1.b3 on youtube.
This was a great game up till move 27. It's a 3 minute blitz and my opponent was feeling some time pressure I think.
it's a totally playable opening.....Im a huge fan of ....Nc6 (Nimzo defence) but this is a very nice opening as well...
lately played it (online/ corresp.) and caught an 1800 player offguard with with his Queen f3 on the 6th move...
Im not expecting to walking into Queen blunders all the time, but Im gonna try this opening more often...
Do u think u could play e6 first
Do u think its good
In the 1...b6 group we always play 1...b6 and are undefeated in 47 Vote Chess games.
This opening is good if you want to give white the better position and the initiative out of the opening. ;)
now, I really want to learn this. :)
We are a learning group.
for opening the best way to find, more acurate move is with the opening report. use engine for opening is a bad idea. yes the engine are strong but opening report is the best way. some times some nice move are choosen bye the engine. that were not considered.
my favourite opening comes from this but not this line
but the way i play it is this
say if you can find a flaw
2.d4 is the best move according to Fritz and Houdini.
is there anyone who know best answer to this oppening?
Lol@gduffy, just exclaiming some nonsense .. maybe if you had a rating of 2200 someone would actually take it seriously...
I have found that this opening is quite effective. I have played against this Owen Deffence many times and unless the opponent makes a major mistake you will have a fight on your hands. Not as bad as a lot of people think and can be very effective at times.
I play this almost all the time. i am still working out the kinks but I believe in its effectiveness.
Haha! Owen Defense!
Note:Owen is a news reporter in Malaysia
Because he doesn't know/can't be bothered telling us :p
