Very good opening
1.e4 a6 2.d4 b5 3.Nf3 Bb7
Looks weird.
ok i guess...
I play this on blitz game, I get good result. Good for hypermodern player who like to build an opening instead of learning lines...
Yes it is sound limits the scope of the bishop. I do like unorthodox moves I'm in the unorthodox openings team.
ok very instructive game and this is defiantly a sound defense
that wasn't clear but ok. Before you was below it, now your over 1300.
im not the game says Notes by Tony Miles, edited by Ray Keene. and I am above 1300
time123 can't comment on the game between Karpov and Miles, he's under 1300 rating.
Stops white a Bb5 later in the game...
Miles played this in a match against Karpov in 1980.
this opening made me win when I played againgst the computer
thats all?
i did this once but i didn't know why
My mouse slipped and I played this inadvertently against a higher-rated opponent. I ended up winning and it taught both of us that either games ARE NOT WON IN THE FIRST MOVES OF THE GAMES or that this defense needs to make people reconsider how to play the black side of the board.
It doesn't have any control over the center as black. 2. d4 ... gives White a clear advantage right from move 2. Plus there are more open lines for development with White's pieces.
lawl.. i live in st. george..
I guess the purpose of this is to restrict the movement of the bishop. Doesn't seem much use, but it makes sense.
