I see so...... many weak players play this as both black and white. They either continue with ra3/6 or b4/5 in both cases I take it. to make it worse the sae thing happens on the other side.
I dont get it
hhm
I've beat 1700+ rated players with this. I play it for kicks to get them out of their opening repertoire.
The classic A5 rook lift...lets your opponent know what you think of his skill.
gmaster, a 40% win rate as black at high levels is very, very good.
Yet that doesn't mean the opening itself is. I see no logic behind 1...a5 (it doesn't develop anything, and if you want to attack the queenside, it can always be played later. Rarely will white try to prevent a move like a5 as part of his opening)
hahahahahahah!!!
Wow, I really hope no one is tactical enough to use this against me.
magnus carlson could probably draw a 2000 with this so i can beat a 500 with this. i guess all openings have uses
Preston Ware lost 3 times and won twice with this defense if you look at the games in the database. Even the guy its named after usually lost with this.
haha, some guy played this on me today, i won in 13 moves...
Yeah, I just can hardly wait to employ this defense.
It is to induce weaknesses in White's queenside early on. It is an ambitious defense, but it does leave Black behind in development. Of course, he is going to have to adopt a type of ...e6 defense if he wants to continue with the normal Ware ideas of a4 and a3 off the bat.
BTW, Bird's Opening is not just an opening for beginners - why don't you take a look at http://www.chess.com/groups/home/birds-opening-lovers, one of the strongest groups on chess.com - it focuses on Bird's Opening, and has some very strong players.
this will actually benefit the white.
this is not a defence at all
it is like birds opening you can only play with beginners an low experienced
player
VERY CRAZY GUY THAT BOO IS

It's actually called corn stalk defence.
