What is the purpose of the pawn on c6? Is it to stop the knight getting into d5 or b5? Thanks in advance

Looks like an opening not meant to let the game be won in the opening... I like it quite a bit. If anybody has had a successful game with it, it would be cool if you could post here.

one of my favourite openings.,, very useful for top chess tournaments :P
