Actually, the Elephant Gambit is a fantastic play if you know how to use it.

I like playing this opening, but in fast game (blitz, bullet). If you know the opening but your opponent doesn't, you have a big advantage.

with 3. Nxe5 dxe4 and 3. exd5 Bd6 (and try to have an attack on the king's side with your pawns)

Bishops are important for black, without pawns in th ecenter bishops have a greater reigns.

This opening don't play by Grandmasters level.

interesting idea but the ratings prove it to be generally unsuccessful :)

But white will not win queen which is more better then a knight. You could also block with the bishop.

    After 11 ... Ne5, what's wrong with 12 f4?  ...Bc5+ 13 Kh1 and white is still winning the Knight.

Looks to my amature mind as a very active black opening but is fairly easily defended by white.

I dunno... looks like after 11 Re1 Ne5 saves the queen, then black just has to castle...

Yes, really.  11 Re1 pinning queen to king wins outright unless there is a substantially long refutation, which seems unlikely

@Vyomo: In your line, isn't 11. Re1 just winning for White?

It's actually a strong gambit I used to play this all the time, I must revisit it.

excuse me ut is garbage. its simply the center game reversed, but white has the extra tempo with Nf3.

It's not complete garbage. You may be thinking about it incorrectly. It is important to remember that this is a gambit. The idea is to sacrifice the pawn to gain the initiative: 3.e4xd5 e4 is a good try for black. He'll have easier development from here though I'm not convinced it is compensation for the pawn. The opening's reverse as white is very interesting though, the Center Game. But there the idea is to hold the pawn by bringing out the queen which leads to a quick disadvantage for a novice but very complex play for a skilled player.

looks like garbage to me, white is better after either knight or pawn takes.
