My Cakes

I used to bake cakes frequently for any or no reason. Somebody's birthday? That called for CAKE. Were congratulations in order? How better to do that than with CAKE? Some people say it with flowers -- I always said it with CAKE. Recently I happened to come across my album of cakes and picked out some of my favorites. You'll note that they are not professional-looking and none are decorated with royal icing. Rather, I preferred to decorate with fresh fruit and nuts. Instead of a confectioners' sugar frosting, I favored a butter cream frosting. So why did I stop? I became very health-conscious and realized that my cakes weren't helping anybody live longer, including myself, who loved to lick the bowls I used in the process of making the cakes, the fillings, the frostings.
Sigh....... Sometimes I long for those days......
