John Bauer

John Bauer (June 4, 1882 – November 20, 1918) was a Swedish painter and illustrator best known for his illustrations of Bland tomtar och troll (Among Gnomes and Trolls). Princess Tuvstarr and the Fishpond (named after Carex cespitosa), painted in 1913, is perhaps Bauer's most notable work.

    Uw, Knatted, inspirered by a friend who published some photos from Virginia and it reminded me of the Swedish nature and this Swedish artist.

    I grew up with them so they are a part of my childhood. There were a lot of illustrators at that time making amazing and magic illusions.

    I love these.  They remind me a lot of a fairy tale book I had as a little girl.  I held on to it for years because the illustrations were amazing, not the kinds of things that one normally sees in a children's book.
