Chess Tarot (Part I)

Submitted by Dozy on Fri, 10/19/2007 at 10:01pm.

I found an old Tarot deck the other day and realised it might well contain some life-lessons for chess players.

I skipped the suits (Swords, Pentacles, Wands and Cups) and scanned in only the Major Arcana.

I've done the first half here.  I'll add the rest later.

By the way, in case you were wondering, a Tarot reader is the only person who can get away with calling a Spade a Sword.

One thing I don't like about this concept is the inappropriateness of promoting occult tarot stereotypes on a games related website. Besides playing  board games like chess, I like to play tarot card games and it would be a good thing if more game players knew that tarot cards were really made for game playing and not for fortune telling or tarot reading. It's not that I'm bashing tarot reading, but if tarot cards are to appear on a website for game players it would be better if information on tarot card games would also be included. The perception of tarot as only for divination is a stereotype which is harmful to the interests of game  players.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the opinion and the links. Try not to take it too seriously. Like almost everything I've contributed to chess.com it's intended to be taken with a pinch of salt.
