44 players competed in the West Des Moines Youth Chess tournaments held at the St. Francis of Assissi cafeteria on Septmber 10. 2011. Bethany Carson and Frank Li were co-champions of the morning rated section with Bethany's Dad Tim winning the morning parents and friends section. The afternoon session saw Clive Power of Iowa City win the 26 player rated section with the only 3-0 score. Zack Calvert of St. Francis won the 6 player unrated section and Tim Carson and Tim McEntee both went 2-0 to share first in the parents and friends section.
