Mountain Lake...sort of.

This is what's left of Mountain Lake.  This resort and lake were made famous in the late 1980's by the film "Dirty Dancing".  Below is a pic I found on the web that shows the lake when it still had it's full glory.  The photos in the album were what I took today while hiking around the lake.

    Reminds me of what some of our lakes looked like during severe droughts...so sad such a beautiful lake had to end up dry.

    There were a series of underground springs that fed the lake at one time.  They've all but dried up now.  People have been studying the lake for years and no one seems to have a good answer.  Everything around the lake seems to be dying off.
