This gallery in a small way presents some art-work of a Hungarian painter who began his landscape-painting in same space time when Maróczy began the international role, in 1895.
Maróczy left off the chess-playing in 1908. Csontváry’s last visionary closing picture was painted in 1909.
Both of them, they were great artists. Maróczy in the chess-playing, Csontváry in the plan-air painting. Here are some oil painting from works of Csontváry. He was a great traveller and he didn’t sell one picture in his life as Van Gogh.
Tivadar CSONTVÁRY-KOSZTKA and Vincent Van Gogh had born in same year, in 1853. Csontváry died in 1919.
