Are cats smart, or what??

My two Siamese cats (a male and a female) are always interested in any new item introduced into our home, and as I was arranging some new stargazer lilies in a vase (which I had received as a gift), Tiffany, the female, jumped up on the counter to investigate the blooms.  I sternly warned her away from them, as I had heard that lilies are not good for cats.  (Actually, I just learned that lilies are deadly to cats (shreeeek !!!) - so I have since moved these lilies to a room where I keep the door closed!)

Now Tiffany is a real fetcher - she loves to play fetch with me...I throw her toy mice, and she brings them back to me, just like a dog.  When I get too distracted with chess or other things and forget to play with her, she will find strategic locations in which to place her mice so that I will be sure to see them and be reminded - for instance in my shoe or on my pillow.

Later that day, I was walking by the lilies and I paused to admire their stunning beauty and breathe in their wonderful fragrance.  I leaned over to smell several of the large blossoms and ... well, if you fully open the first photo and go "Next" until the end, you can experience my surprise...

Some said that cats say to themselves: 'he/she takes care of me..I must be God' while dogs say 'he/she takes care of me, he/she must be God'... Interesting to have mixed behaviors

Yes, thanks.  I've found that if I immediately raise a big stink about them not chewing or eating something that might harm them, they will absolutely obey.  But that's because I have earned my status as their leader through love and attentiveness.

Edit:  I just learned that if a cat ingests even a small portion of any part of the lily, it could be fatal!  So I have removed the flowers to a room where I keep the door closed.
