How? When? Why?

November 1st at this event: http://blogs.forbes.com/oliverchiang/2010/11/02/garry-kasparov-the-last-revolutionary-technology-was-the-apple-ii/

It was amazing!! I was in awe. He really is brilliant. Awesome speech.

Can you Erik without an iota of doubt look Bobby Fischer in the eyes and call Garry Kasparov the greatest chess player ever?

No, he is at times very overconfident aside the chessboard. I wonder how he is at net working?

That's pretty cool.  I have met a couple intellectual giants myself, and it's a wonderful feeling.

Did you find him charismatic as many of his opponents have?

That was really great, and it's always exciting to hear what Kasparov has been doing.  I was following him some when he was politcally active in Russia.  Did he switch sides? :)  Why didn't he address the true issue of UsA's unemployment, which is.. our companies have been sent to overseas to keep help other countries economy, and of course because they can gain more profit from being located in other countries!   What percent of merchandise is made in China now??!

The problem isn't machines; it's people or governments who want to control others for selfish reasons.  It should be  about fairness, honesty and loving our country's men and wanting to provide jobs HERE.

    Please, Kasparov, stick with chess.

Kasparov was an amazing player, and he's certainly intelligent and charismatic... but he says some really dumb things.  I guess he's not impressed by the Internet?  Mobile phones & computing?  Does anyone seriously feel like we've been at a technological standstill since 1983?  Undecided

I'm curious about our Fearless Leader, though.  What was the context of your meeting?  Just a brief shake-hands?  Did it happen to come up in conversation that you are the founder and CEO of a chess site with 2.5 million members?  I'm sure he wouldn't exactly have been awed, but you've got a little bit more going in the chess world than the average bear!

Wish I could have sahken his hand and wish that I could have asked and received a single advice from him on how to play the game. This would mark me forever.

    Did you ask him?

You might have asked him to participate in a free lance writing column say 4 times per year.

Expensive? Perhaps, but Kasparov is a chess gentleman and maybe he would have agreed based on the expansion of this site.

    Just a dream!

    Dreams are free.

When I met him he talked all about his brilliancy over Topalov, the rook sac game. Unfortunately later on in the evening he was on a panel with the Stanford Men's Football coach, Tyrone Willingham, and proceeded to argue that chess is a sport.

Tyrone was gracious in a sense, and didn't offer his own opinion, but I remember thinking it was a little cheeky of Kasparov.

Did you get him to sign up for chess.com?
