My son, Daniel, just turned 5, has just played his first game of chess. We didn't finish it, but I am mega proud of him!
Here is the [incomplete] game:

It's still on my analysis board, if we continue the game I'll update it :)

Firstly, the reason: The smilies on chess.com are LAME!!!Â
Secondly, the how: They are just images I have uploaded to chess.com in the normal way. Once uploaded you can easily acces...

Tactics Trainer

Lately, I have been reminded about the shortcomings of the tactics trainer.
The two basic problems are:
1. Alternative correct moves are treated the same as hopeless blunders.
EG, you play a move that wins (like a mate in 10). But there is ...

Interesting Lines!

Hi all,
I recently played this OTB game.
I got a nice advantage but then whittled it away and ended up in time trouble and threw the win away to a draw.Â
Had some interesting lines in it, thought I'd share it.
I know I didn't play perfectly.....

Low activity mode...

Just letting people know that I will be withdrawing from things everywhere for a while as I am getting totally owned by my business and have to sacrifice some activity here to manage.

I seem to have entered a nice blunder phase -- especially OTB. I have been doing a substantial amount of Tactics Trainer, but other than that, nothing much...

No Such Thing As Luck in Chess?

HA!!
Recently, I have been playing a game with a player rated 2300+ and it wasn't looking too good, I think I was on my way to a loss...
Lucky!  Today I find his account has been closed for cheating. Is that lucky? Well, a little, because...

I miss JASC.

Nothing to do with chess at all, so sorry to bore you :p
