Do YOU know how to win with 2 Bishops vs a lone king? How about a Bishop & a Knight?

Do YOU know how to win with 2 Bishops vs a lone king? How about a Bishop & a Knight?

  • Piece of cake!! I'm insulted you would even ask!
  • 2 Bishops, yes - not sure about B+N...
  • Not sure about either... I'd have to experiment.
  • No clue! Draw, I guess.

    Hey, hey, hey!!!

Now don't make me laugh! 25% knows how to mate with bishop and knight??? It's often more than 30 move!!! And after 50 move it's draw!!! Man would think that at least HERE are normal people. But my respect to those, who really knows how to do it.

On balance, I tend to agree with TeddyHunter.

It's B+N not B+K...it is impossible to win with B+K

Bishop and Bishop mate does exist and even does Knight and Bishop,Both types of checkmates are possible,But B+K is a little tougher :)

I saw in theory (system of triangles), but in a real game B+N before fifty moves is not so easy!

you actually CAN mate your opponent when you both have a bishop and the king... but the opponnent's king must be at the corner(draw when you play with someone with IQ over 5)

Heh, perfect timing on this question as I'm about to convert a bishop and knight versus king in my game (using Deletang's triangle).

I can't get the exact minimum number of moves for either mate, but I can execute both of them.

    Yep, I practiced N + B for ages against a computer.  B + B is cake.

Eventually, but if you were to restrict my time and moves to play then I will have real problems.
