    By the way, online chess was a way too bad naming. Actually, it is more like offline chess :)

    Well, "correspondence chess" sounds fancy but neither it nor most of other options do not really capture the basic difference of online chess from live ones. The main difference is the daily-ness, the extremely long "turn"s... So, I would prefer daily chess. Well, who says correctness is more important than fanciness? But still, I think "correspondence chess" sounds too ... formal(?) I don't know, maybe it is just too long...

    @HeartofStone.. exactly the same is my view. "Correspondence Chess" is a long-forgotten term in chess, bringing it back is a good idea. also i think the original idea of Correspondence Chess (and a great one considering those good ol' days) is the idea behind "online chess" in chess.com

    It's great that you guys consider changing this. Online chess seemed wrong from the beginning. The natural expectation when you hear "online chess" is to play interactively.

    I'm also happy that "Correspondence chess" is the choice of most users. Why bother inventing a new term? Correspondence chess already has a well-defined meaning in the general chess community, outside chess.com.

    At first I misunderstood  online chess  for Live chess . so  online chess gives

    wrong impression. Name may be changed to online classic chess or

    E-classic chess.

    Hi.  I would like to offer a different posibility for the name if I may;

    Offline Chess

    Thanks.

    I think correspondence chess is the classic and correct way of designating it. It doesn't have to be "daily," it's not played by "e-mail," and all others are applicable to live chess.

    Oooh how about post chess? In reference to postal, and posting a move like you would post in a forum.

    I think it's a great thing that you are asking members of the site what to change it to!

    I don't really see how people find it inaccurate. Yeah, it used to be played primarily via mail, but thats not part of the definition of CC.

    Wormrose, that is not a bad idea!!!

    Correspondence Chess (CC) is played through the mail with postcards and postage stamps. CC has been played for more than 100 years, i.e. Staunton vs Bristol Chess Club 1841-2. This is not Correspondence Chess but it is the closest thing to Correspondence Chess without actually being Correspondence Chess. I think of it as Electronic Correspondence Chess. So maybe ECorrespondence or ECC.

    Why not leave it the way it is-Online Chess?

    Another idea is to change the link names to just "Correspondence", "Live!", "Vote", etc. so that spacing isn't an issue. Then a description could be added.
